Do the sisters look alike?

Here are some pictures of both Emily and Megan that will help compare them. Do you think they look alike? At first, I thought there was definitely a resemblence, but the older Emily gets, the more I think she looks like Megan. We look at Megan's old pictures, and we are like, that is so Emily! We think they both look like their dad!

Update on our Girls

I am so far behind on posts. Here is a little update!

Emily just turned 2 months a couple of days ago. I can't believe it has been 2 months already!
She was 10.4 pounds (25%) and 22 inches (50th%) at her 2 month appt. She is looking so much like Megan. She is full of smiles these days. Her eyes just light up as she smiles. It is so cute! She is sleeping pretty well at night and going about 6-6 1/2 in between feedings. (I would like for her to be going longer at this point, but you take what you can get!). I am going to start working on stretching her out longer as she seems to be in a rut at waking up between 5-5:30 every morning. We need to push past that! She has really turned into a content little baby (Tim and I both thought she was more fussy than Megan, but she seems to be less fussy these days!) I must say though, she got her shots today, and she cried harder and longer than Megan ever has for all of her shots combined. Emily was so upset after her shots, and I am trying so hard to get her to calm down in the room that we were in. Finally after 5-10 minutes, I decide I better just leave b/c I am sure they need to use the room. So I go to schedule her next appt. with her still screaming. As I walked passed people, they would say, wow, she is really upset. I would reply, yeah, shots. (I mean what can you do when your baby won't stop screaming??) Since her shots, if she is not sleeping or nursing, she is fussing. This may be a long night...glad shots don't happen very often!

Megan is 2 years old and 4 months. Wow, I could say so much about her. She just loves life, is always on the go, talks up a storm, and keeps us busy! The biggest news though this year for her is that she is potty trained (not at night time yet though)! She started to seem to start getting the hang of it at the end of December. During the month of January she was doing pretty good although I was having to take her every so often and she would not tell me. She stayed dry pretty well though. She would not go poops in the in the potty chair. Last month, she started telling me when she needed to go and finally started using the potty chair for poops! Now, she is going on her own, not telling us she is going, and washing her hands on her own. She thinks she is such a big girl!! I am definitely not going to be writing any books on how to potty train your child in 3 days/1 week/whatever, but we got there! She also got her first hair cute last month. Her hair was getting so scraggly in the back. She sat very still through it (Why she can't sit that was in church?). Her hair does look better after her hair cute! She loves her little sister and has adjusted pretty well to her. Today, I heard her making kissing noises, and she was over by her sister giving her kisses and playing with her...so cute!

We are loving our two little girls.

Emily Grace Armstrong

Emily Grace was born Jan. 5, 2011 at 2:41 pm. She weighed 6 lbs .02 ounces and was 19 1/2 inches long.

Here is her birth story:
On Wednesday morning at 6:30, I heard Megan calling for me. I went in to tell her that it was still night, night time. (She is not able to get out of bed before 7am). In this little incident, my water broke. I called my dr. who said to come in in 4-5 hours unless contractions started. (I was not having any contractions yet.) I was so unprepared for this. ( A little background, I was due Jan. 22. I had just had a dr. appt. the day before where I was 2 cm dilated and 70& effaced. HE told me I would not probably have the baby this week, but it would be soon.) With being unprepared for Emily to arrive, I called my mom to come over to stay with Megan. We all started working together to get things done....doing a load of laundry, Tim going to get some items at the grocery store for Mom and Megan, packing our bags, getting the infant car seat in the van, etc. It was so weird knowing that I was going to be having a baby soon, but not feeling any contractions.

Tim and I arrived at the hospital around 11 am. They tested to make sure my water had broken (of course it had!). At 11:30, I was dilated 3-4 and was 80 % effaced. I was still not having contractions so they started me on pitocin around noon. At 1:30, I was dilated 4-5 and was 90% effaced. I was starting to get uncomfortable with the contractions so I asked for an epidural at 1:40 pm. This is where is got a little crazy...

At 2 pm, I was asking the nurse where my epidural was because I really WANTED it badly. At 2:15 or so, they came in to give me an epidural. The dr. said she needed to check me first b/f I got my epidural. I asked if they could PLEASE give me the epidural first. They said no! The dr. said I was 8. I was fine with that thinking that I would have a little time of relaxation once the epidural was given b/f I would have to start pushing. As I turned over for the epidural about 2:20, I suddenly needed to push. It was so fast. The dr. was like, don't push, just breath. I was like I need to push. They gave me the epidural. It takes like 15-20 minutes for the epidural to take full affect. They gave me an oxygen mask. I was a little scared with that and asked if I was okay. They said yes, you just need oxygen. Then they asked me to roll over to one side and then to the other (How in the world am I supposed to do that when I am in pain and just need to push?? Of course, I am supposed to be breathing??) About 2:30, the dr. on call decides she is going to have to deliver me as my dr. was not there yet. As I am getting ready to push for her, my dr. arrives. He quickly gets ready for the delivery. He comes over and tells me that the baby's heart rate was 70 and he would have to suction her out. I said that is fine, do whatever you need to do.

After a couple of pushes, the dr. suctions her out. This is the part I found out later from Tim. All I know is that I did not hear her cry right away, and I did not get to hold her right away. Tim told me later that she came out blue and was limp. Her apgar score (Activity, Pulse, Grimace, Appearance, and Respiration) was just 1 out of 10. I was a little emotional after her birth as everything happened so quickly, and with her heart rate and such...I am thankful I was not aware of everything or else I would have been a basket case. They were able to stimulate her, and everything was fine. I was able to hold her and see for myself that she was fine. I am so thankful that the Lord brought Emily Grace into our lives. I am thankful for our family of four!

Happy 2nd B-day, Megan

Two years ago, this precious gift from the Lord entered our lives. We were overcome with thanksgiving as the Lord was so gracious to us in giving Megan Hope.

Megan's 1st birthday!

And now, we can't believe our little girl is 2!! A little update on Meggers!

Megan LOVES playing outside and would stay out all day if we would let her. She plays so nicely outside and usually stays out of trouble! She loves going to the park where she enjoys the slides and swings. She really enjoys taking Elmo out to our swing in the backyard so she can push him in the swing, and then she will swing next to him.

Megan LOVES going to church. If we ever go by the church, she is quick to see it and talk about it. She loves putting on her dress on Sunday mornings. When we get to church on Sundays and Wednesdays, she just bounces/skips/runs up to the door! It is so cute! (There is an elderly lady that prays that she will always love church as much as she loves it now (what a wonderful request)...brings tears to my eyes knowing that people in our church are praying for our precious Meggers at such a young age!) She knows many of the people from church and has learned many of their names. Our church is so sweet to Megan!

Megan LOVES playing with her babies. She takes pampers on and off them and dresses them. She feed them, puts them down for naps, etc. We are hoping that she will love this new baby and help out as much as she does with her babies.

Megan LOVES learning as well. It is amazing how much little kids can pick up. She is working on her alphabet and sounds (Her favorite letter is the B...b, b, bear!). She does pretty well with her colors and numbers 1-10...not perfect, but working on them. She enjoys singing songs as well. Her favorites are Joshua fought the Battle of Jericho, This Little Light of Mine, Everybody Ought to Know, The BIBLE, The Wheels on the Bus, Jesus Love Me, etc.

Megan just LOVES life. She is a very happy child with so much personality! From the time she gets up to the time she goes to bed, she is usually going, going, going.

Tim and I LOVE Megan so much. She brings us many smiles and laughs throughout the day. We can never thank God enough for giving her to us. Happy Birthday, Megan!! WE LOVE YOU!

"I'm a Big Sister!!"

We are excited to announce that we will be adding a new addition to the Armstrong household due around Jan.22! We are so thankful to the Lord for the wonderful gift he is blessing us with.
