Here is his birth story:
Memorial Day was May 30th, and we ended up going over to my parent's house for supper that evening. I was having contractions off and on that evening so I decided to go on a walk with my sister and friend. I felt pretty uncomfortable during the walk, but the contractions were not consistent enough yet. I headed home to see what the the night would bring. At 11:45pm, my water broke, and I was so glad that it was finally time to go to the hospital!
We got to the hospital about 12:45 (I had Tim stop at a Kwik Shop and get a Mountain Dew as he was pretty tired after being woken up to drive me to the hospital. I told him if he wanted pop to get it on the way...he took me up on that offer!). They took me to the check in room where I waited about an hour to get taken to Labor and Delivery. I got my IV (It took 3 pricks to get it in. I was in tears as I hate IV's.) At 2:18am , I was dilated just to a 4 and just 80 effaced. At 304 am, I got my wonderful epidural. I asked for it right away b/c I knew that I usually went pretty quick with my deliveries, and I don't like being in pain! The epidural went very smoothly for which I was thankful for. At 3:45, I was 6.5 dilated..100% effaced. I asked for more epidural meds as I was having some pain. Those meds were great and I felt no pain after that. At about 4:45, I was dilated to a 7. I was able to message back and forth with Karis for a while as I waited on Micah to arrive. Tim was sleeping so it helped me pass my time. Around 5:20, my ob dr. came in to see were I was at. He checked me, and I was at a 10. I had to laugh b/c with the epidural, I felt a little pressure, but other than that, didn't realize I was ready to push. I pushed 2x's (once for the head and the other for the body) for about maybe 30 seconds and out popped Micah James. It was so fast, and Tim said it was quite funny to see the dr. quickly rush his hands under the baby to catch it. They were surprised at how fast the baby came.
I am so thankful to the Lord for a safe delivery. Everything went so smoothly. We love Micah so much and are thankful he is part of our family!
