3 Months Old...already

Tomorrow Megan will be 3 months old! She is getting so big. I just wanted to put on some pictures of her to show how big she is getting. This will be a short post as not much has been happening. One quick comment on one of the pictures. Megan always is placed in the same spot in her crib. We have gone in there on different occasions and see that she has scooted herself to another position. (Usually it is when she is really upset and crying herself to sleep that she does this.) Well in the picture below, she went to sleep in the middle of her crib. She slept through the night without crying. When we heard her in the morning talking, we saw that she was all the way in the corner. She must have been playing before she made noises in her crib and scooted over to the corner. It was so cute to see her just talking when we went in in the little corner!

Update

It is definitely time for another update! December was a full month as we celebrated my(Kristen) birthday, celebrated Christmas , held 3 teen activities, etc. and of course, enjoyed Megan!!

The first event was my birthday. For my birthday, my mom babysat Megan (of course she was so excited to do so!) Tim made reservations to an Italian restaurant called Sweet Basil and surprised me with that. (Sweet Basil is where Tim and I went back in 2005 when we were dating and he was meeting my parents...it is Wichita's most romantic restaurant!). Then we rented a movie and watched it at our house with Megan still at my parent's house. It was so nice to have a date night. I was ready to see Megan though when it was over. Her Nana said she was a very good girl ( I do not think she would say otherwise no matter what!)

We also were very busy with teen activities. Our first activity was caroling. It was a very cold night, but we had a good turnout for this event. Afterwards, we had hot chocolate at the church and did the white elephant gift exchange. The second event was making gingerbread houses and watching Elf! The teens were very creative with their gingerbread houses...all different shapes and sizes. The third activity was the New Years Eve party. We had all the teens come to our apartment! We ate, played games, and played the wii. All the activities were a lot of fun and we had good turnouts for them!

For Christmas, we opened gifts at my parents house on Christmas eve! Then on Christmas, my Grandparents (the Riffels) came for the day. WE enjoyed a good meal, putting together a puzzle, and playing Apples to Apples. The next day, we did our own Christmas at our house. We enjoyed that day so much because Tim was off work!!! So we opened gifts, went shopping, then went out for supper!! It was such a fun day! (Megan was so good all day shopping...we probably shopped for like 3 hours or something from store to store. Then as we went out to a nicer restaurant, and of course then she started getting fussy:( I told Tim we could not complain too much because she was so good the rest of the time. Tim walked Megan around while I ate, and vice versa...needless to say, not the most quality time we have ever gotten, but I at least other's peoples meals were not interrupted by a crying baby. She enjoyed being walked around and was quiet at least!)

As for a Megan update...she is getting quite big. She is smiling quite a bit and cooing so much! We are really enjoying her! At 9 1/2 weeks, she was 11.5 pounds and 24 inches! She is wearing some 3-6 month outfits as she is getting too long for some of her 0-3 month outfits. She seems to like it when we sing to her as she attempts to sing with us(at least I call it trying to sing..it is so cute!) She loves her swing and chair that she sits in! We are trying to introduce her to her toys as well, but all she does at this point is stare! She is also letting us know much more when she does not like something...wow! She is still adjusting to going to sleep on her own (and so are we!). We have been working at this for a while. We are hoping one day, she makes progress in this area so we do not have to hear the crying so much...once she is asleep though, she sleeps great. We are still loving being parents and would not trade it for the world!

Busy Few Weeks

It has been 3 1/2 weeks since we have posted on our blog. Life has been very busy and full for us. Here is a quick update (well maybe not quick) with a lot of pictures (it is amazing how many pictures you take of a baby!!)

Tim's parents came out here the 3rd week of Nov. from Florida. It was so much fun to have them at the house for a few days. This was the first time they had seen Megan so we were all excited. They were a huge help as well...helping with cleaning, cooking, and watching Megan (I got a couple of naps with them watching her where I did not even have to listen for her!! It was so wonderful..thanks so much Dad and Mom A.)

During the days they were here, my church here held a baby shower for me. I was flooded with gifts again. It was so much fun and once again I felt very spoiled! This church has been so generous to Tim and I...they have truly shown us the love of Christ.

The next week was Thanksgiving. My brother, James and his wife Laura came down for the whole week. It was so much fun to see them. Then John and Bethany were able to come down on Thanksgiving and stay a few days as well. It was so much fun to have almost the whole family here for Thanksgiving! (We were missing Dan, Karis, Kayla, and Krista...but we were able to skype with them for 10 minutes and see them on the computer so we were thankful for that!) My Grandparents (Riffels) came for Thanksgiving, and then on Friday, we travelled to my dad's side of the family. Megan was very spoiled these 2 weeks by Grandpa and Grandma A. and the Uncles and Aunties!!

During the beginning of the week of Thanksgiving, Megan began getting sick. Megan was starting to have a ton of congestion in her chest and nose as well as a slight fever. She sounded miserable. We ended up taking her to the dr. who gave her some medicine. The next day after the dr., she was getting worse where she would cough like 15-20 times in a row, then gag, and then have problems breathing. It was so scary. We called our Dr. back, and he suggested to take her to the ER just to make sure nothing was terribly wrong (the dr. office was closed 5 straight days for Thanksgiving so we could not take her there...it would have been our preference, but oh well). So poor Megan was just 4 weeks old, and had already gone to the dr., ER, and had medication. There was nothing they could do for Megan as it was just a bad cold. They told us that it could take up to 3 weeks for her to get over it as she was so young. She is feeling better now which we are so thankful for. It is hard to see such a little one sick...she was so lathargic during this time.

Tim and I were able to go on our first date for a night without our little one. We went out for my birthday, and my mom graciously babysat Megan...(She was really excited about babysitting and said Megan was good...I am pretty sure I will never hear her say she was bad...right Mom?) We went out to an Italian restaurant, and then we came back home and watch a Christmas movie. It was so much fun. By the end of the night though, I was ready to see Megan again.

We are now getting Megan on a schedule trying to get everything organized at home here...we are still not quite all the way settled in, but we are getting there little by little. We have made quiet a bit of progress this week getting things done and back on track. Since the move and baby, we have been so far behind on things and needing to get this apartment totally set up. We are close!!

Okay..now a little on Megan. She is 6 1/2 weeks. When we took her to the dr. at 4 1/2 weeks old, she weighed 9 ' 4 ''...and was in the 95% for height and 50% for weight..so she is doing well. She is starting to smile quite a bit and coo!! ( I included a lot of pic. of Megan at the end of the slide show to show how many pictures I had to take to try to capture a smile!) Tim was just playing with her today and she was just smiling and "talking". We were just laughing with her as she was being so cute! We are trying to get her to learn to go to sleep on her own. We started this yesterday so we have endured some crying, but we are hoping she gets it soon. She is still a very contented baby for the most part! We are thankful for that!

That is about it from the Armstrongs. Hopefully I will keep up with this better now.

3 weeks tomorrow!!

We can't believe she is almost already 3 weeks! They grow up so fast!!! We figured the family would like some more pictures so we will post some more...

Really quickly though, I am not sure if we posted this information on here or not, but we are in an apartment. We moved into the apartment 6 days before Megan was born. It was a really busy time to try to get everything moved, but we were so thankful to have a place to call home! We have a 2 bedroom apartment with a den (which is Tim's office). We really like it. We live about 15 minutes from the church in Wichita. My parents and sister were a huge help in getting our things out of boxes and organized. We had most of the boxes emptied by the time Megan came so that was nice. (Poor Megan...she did not even have her baby room ready when she got home from the hospital...it is still not 100% ready either...poor girl.) We are close to having the house completely set up...but do have a few things left to do. It has been very hard to keep the house cleaned up let alone getting the last few things organized and put away. We do praise the Lord for this apartment..Like I said, we love it here.

What else has happened in the last couple of weeks. My grandparents came to see Megan for the first time. We enjoyed seeing them. Tim has been staying super busy with work and church as well as helping out with Megan. He has been wonderful to me. He has made me breakfast a couple of times, and it was so good!! He has been so good about the house not being cleaned and me not cooking!! I am so thankful for him! HE is such a good daddy!!

Tomorrow Tim's parents are coming to visit. WE are super excited! They will be staying with us for about from Wednesday-Monday. This is the first time they will be seeing Megan.

N-way, not much is happening other than the normal baby activities. Enjoy the pictures!

1 Week Old!!

Megan was one week old yesterday...I was going to post yesterday on her first week, but I did not have the time or energy.

Megan is sleeping pretty well so far. She did cry the whole first night that we were in the hospital. Now that had me scared, but the next night, she did fine. She had a really rough night again on Tuesday night where she would not sleep and fussed a lot. I am hoping that she does not keep that record up of fussing a lot 2 nights out of the week. But like I said, she is sleeping well. She does not fuss a lot (of course she has her times and has had couple of rough nights), but overall she seems pretty content.

She had some firsts this week as well. Of course her first night out of the womb and seeing her parents, grandparents, and aunt. She got to spend the night at Grandpa's and Grandma's for the first time (Tim went back to work on Saturday night, so I stayed at my parents house Sat.Tuesday just at nights so they could help out. I am so thankful for all they have done to help out. They have fed us, helped with Megan, cleaned my house, did my laundry, etc. Thanks so much Dad, Mom and Karen!) She also had her first night out Tuesday night. Dad and Mom took us out along with Karen to eat. It was so nice to be able to get out, and Megan slept the whole time in her car seat. She also went to church for the first time last night which was for AWANA. She slept the whole time there as well. (We took her to church on Sunday after the services so people could see her, but I stayed home with Megan during Sunday School and church.) And then today, Mom and I took her to Walmart for the first time. And you guessed it, she slept the whole time there as well in her stroller. (I have been told to enjoy this stage because soon the sleeping all the time will be over, and she will no longer be quite as easy to take out as far as keeping her quiet.) She also had her first dr. appointment today, and that went well as well. Yes, she did cry for this...she was not a huge fan of getting her clothes taken off to get weighed.

She is getting the hang of nursing as well. It was a rough first few days of nursing. I went to see the lactation consultant 2x's this week. The consultant was so helpful though in encouraging and helping me. We are making good progress in this area. She is back to her normal birth weight so I know she is getting enough to eat!

Tim and I are enjoying being parents! We love her so much already. We praise the Lord for her. Hope you enjoy the pictures.
